Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her early appearances on Broadway include in the Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers for most of her professional career. Ashford will be next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who brought us Hamilton is directing the musical. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the national security crisis. For two seasons, she was the main character of CBS's hit series B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role of Essie. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford are Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
